Sri Lanka has experienced many natural disasters, making the people very thankful for assistance provided by international volunteers such as you. You could work to assist disadvantaged communities that require support with waste management, recycling, urban planning and microfinance loans – an experience both beneficial and rewarding! Teaching English in Sri Lanka

Teaching in Sri Lanka can be a fantastic way to volunteer abroad without making a longer-term commitment, while still benefitting from its natural white beaches, exotic wildlife, rich culture and history. Unfortunately though, like other developing nations it still struggles with poverty and inequality – its people lack means of making a living; many children cannot learn English at school and thus struggle with accessing global economies without this skill.

Volunteering at a Sri Lankan school is an invaluable way to give these children hope for a brighter future. By teaching English basics to these youngsters, you’ll open up many more doors in their future career prospects while showing that someone cares and believes in their capabilities – something which should always be valued at any age.

Staying with a local host family and integrating yourself into their community while working at schools attended by their children is an amazing opportunity that will enable you to better know Sri Lanka and its people, learning about local traditions, customs, and how Sri Lankans live their daily lives.

Visit some of the country’s most iconic attractions, like Sigiriya – an ancient fortress dating back thousands of years – Yala National Park with its breathtaking animals or Kandy’s historic temples for an incredible journey!

Helping Children in Sri Lanka

Volunteer abroad in Sri Lanka for teaching or orphanage work and experience the joys of helping vulnerable children that need extra love and care. Volunteerism abroad in this way creates lasting positive impact that lasts throughout your lifetime!

Sri Lanka’s high poverty rate makes it difficult for families to provide essential needs for their children, which is why so many programs focus on supporting children and their parents by offering resources such as education, medical support and food vouchers – providing these resources hopes to give children an improved chance in life and break the cycle of poverty in communities where these organizations operate.

Medical students can gain invaluable experience and insight by volunteering through this volunteer program. You will work alongside local doctors, gaining a unique view into global healthcare systems while simultaneously learning about Sri Lanka’s culture and lifestyle while helping those in need.

Sri Lanka’s economic crisis is having a devastating effect on many families, and particularly children. Dollar reserves have run dry, essential supplies have been reduced or discontinued entirely and families are struggling to make ends meet. Organizations such as RECDO and Sunshine Charity are doing all they can to support families during this difficult period – however they need your support now more than ever!

Helping Elephants in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka offers beautiful tropical beaches, diverse wildlife and vibrant cities – the ideal environment for volunteering abroad! No matter if your interests lie in animal conservation, education, medicine or helping underprivileged communities there will surely be an opportunity suitable for you in Sri Lanka – even working alongside elephants at Wasgamuwa National Park could make a big difference to you!

This award-winning elephant and wildlife conservation project seeks to protect both wildlife and human communities living side by side. Situated near Wasgamuwa National Park, this incredible initiative gives participants the chance to gain more knowledge of Sri Lanka’s unique natural environment while also working to reduce human-elephant conflict.

Volunteers on this project will be charged with caring for and monitoring elephants while also engaging with local villagers to improve the relationship between these species. Your daily responsibilities will include feeding, bathing and walking your assigned elephant; creating a close bond with its mahout; as well as developing close ties between you both.

Your work in the project’s eco-farm will also provide an opportunity to learn about traditional farming practices and non-chemical fertilizers; you will also help the project meet its future goal of providing poor farmers with elephant dung fertilizer to use non-chemically against elephant attacks on their crops.

As part of their experience on this project, volunteers on this program will stay with a local host family (except for those staying in Pussellayaya Field House in Wasgamuwa). Your host family will provide a safe and comfortable place for you to reside throughout their time on this project and will also prepare meals daily for you.
